Park art Group six-week schedule

Starting at ground level with the three primary colours. I would like to give people the building blocks for mixing colour. This will be done though several exercises or tasks which will give people the opportunity to be more exploratory and independent to finding and creating the colours they need. Sounds simply but as we delve further into shades and saturation it gets interesting. The aim is to give people an understanding and confidence in mixing any colour they want and colour matching if they must resolve a change in a painting or continue where they left off.
Doorways, brick and stone.
I have quite a few people asking me how do you paint a stone wall.? Well, I would like to do several studies of just that. We could start with a connamara dry stone wall or pick a Georgian panelled front door topped with its panelled glass and grounded with its granite steps or a piece of the beautifully pointed brick wall from the terraced houses in Stony Batter. If we have the time, we can try all and what we don’t quite get to we will get to in September. Important points that I will be bringing forth is perspective, colour tones and shadowing.
Last day/Varnishing Day
In the oil class apart from putting the last stone in our walls or the last brick in our houses, I will be bringing in a painting and varnishing it with retouching varnish. This will help people visually see the process been done and what not to do. Nothing worse than patchy varnish.
Anyone interested in painting with us next term, please get in touch!
