March/April ’23. For the past couple of weeks we’ve gone back to basics with colour mixing. Below are some examples of how to use warm tones/ cool tones. We’ve explored these in greater detail in class.
Above is the reference picture for the demonstration Naomi will be working on Sept13/14th 2022. Please print a copy and bring to class if you wish to work on the same subject.
May 3rd: Still Life Demonstration
April 6th: Mediterranean House demonstration. Wk 1 – oil Here is as far as I got with the demonstration yesterday, which was not very far, just the first washes. For the sky you can use cerulean blue or manganese blue washed into a mixture of Naples yellow + alizarin crimson at the bottom. For the walls of the house, there was a mixture of raw sienna, Windsor lemon, burnt sienna and maybe a touch of alizarin crimson. Well watered down, go easy with the alizarin as it will dominate the other colours. And keep your various colours slight separate its nice to let the flow together on the page. Good luck. 😊
March 22nd: Crabapple blossom demonstration.

“Dear all, here is my subject for the next demo, I know it looks complicated, but I’d like to show you how to tackle, what looks like alot to deal with, also mixing greens, capturing sunlight, so great shadows, and the human element which gives it life. What we can put in and leave out. Mixing skintones, etc. See you at class 😊”. Naomi
